Waiakea Lions Club June/July Newsletter Volume 49, Issue 1

(download)

Aloha Fellow Lions, Leos & CIS'

This is a special edition of Ka Leo O Ka Liona.  As most of you know there wasn't a June 2009 issue published so this issue contains relevant information from both May and June plus updates for July 2009 so it's a bit thicker than normal.

Vol 49, Issue1 is available online at:  www.waiakealionsclub.posterous.com and can be downloaded there as well into a full color, full page version .  If you're already reading this from this blogsite, thank you for visiting. For those getting this message/newsletter via email, please bookmark this blogsite so you may go directly to read updated information as they are presented as well as the most current issue of Ka Leo O Ka Liona

If you're visiting District 50's website at:  www.hawaiilions.org  click onto the "Regional Club Info" tab and select website.  In the alphabetical listing under "N-Z" select "Waiakea" to get to our blogsite as well.

I'm excited to present to you this issue of Ka Leo O Ka Liona as it's my first attempt as WLC's Newsletter editor for 2009-2010 to put out a newletter both online and in print.  If there's relevant information that isn't presented or if you spot any errors please email me at either my email address at:  craigconnect@yahoo.com or at our WLC email address at:  waiakealions@yahoo.com

Also if you know of someone that should or wants to be included in our email list, please let me know so I may add them in for future issues.  Otherwise direct them to our blogsite at:  www.waiakealionsclub.posterous.com so they can view/download it themselves.

Currently there is still no information as to the exact date in July for the Leleiwi Beach Park Painting project.  As soon as I get that information it will be posted on our blogsite so keep checking back.

Mahalo for your support,

Lion Craig Watanabe
Editor, Ka Leo O Ka Liona, 2009-2010

2nd test email Waiakea Lions Club

Aloha all,

I'm testing the email system for the second time in preparation for the July 2009 issue of WLC's Ka Leo O Ka Liona.  If you have anything to contribute to this and upcoming issues please email them to:  waiakealions@yahoo.com

If you received this email but know of someone else that didn't get it please let me know so I can add them to the email listing.  I am encouraging all Lions who are still receiving printed copies of the newsletter to go paperless and receive them electronically.  The newsletter will also be published on our blogsite at:  http://waiakealionsclub.posterous.com/ .  The blogsite will have each newsletter available without the need of logging into your email.  Just go to the site and read it. If you want a hard copy just print it out.  No need for PDF viewers.

If you are reading this email on our blogsite, that's because this blogsite also allows for emails from waiakealions@yahoo.com to be sent to it at the editor's descretion.

Mahalo,

Here are some interesting Lions International sites that you may want to visit while surfing online:

1)  http://www.facebook.com/lionsclubs  In order to post you must be a registered facebook member.  Signing up is easy

2)  http://www.myspace.com/lionsclubsorg This site also requires you to sign up.

3)  http://www.hawaiilions.org/yabb/YaBB.pl  This is a forum for those who just need to talk story about District 50 events, projects or anything related to Lions and District 50.  This forum is part of...

4)  http://www.hawaiilions.org/  or District 50's main website devoted to Hawaii Lions clubs statewide.

Upcoming highlights of the Installation and Awards dinner as well as the next BOD meeting is forthcoming and will be presented in the July issue of Ka Leo O Ka Liona

I am in the process of updating email and regular mail addresses to accomodate both email and physical mailings of future newsletters.  I sent out an email to all email recipients that receive the electronic copy of the monthly newsletter and got a few undeliverable email returns.  If you have changed your email address please email me at: waiakealions@yahoo.com .  Currently there are about 24 email versions that go out to Waiakea Lions Club members.  Of those I got a few returned undeliverable emails.  This is why I need to confirm all WLC member email addresses.

Ka Leo O Ka Liona correction

Aloha Fellow Lions,

For those of you who caught my mistake, I congratulate and thank you for pointing out this simple yet critical mistake of inserting an okina into the title of our newsletter.  The proper name of our club newsletter should be:  Ka Leo O Ka Liona, meaning The Voice of the Lion.  Insertion of the okina would have changed the publication into something else.

Mahalo,

Lion Craig
